AMA Ambassador leadership opportunities

The AMA Ambassador Program is now accepting applications for various open leadership positions. All applications are due Thursday, Sept. 26, before midnight Central Time. Selected candidates will be notified via email no later than Oct. 15, 2019.

Ambassador Program Steering Committee

Seven positions

This committee advises staff on the general direction of the AMA Ambassador Program, committee meets monthly via teleconference. Onboarding and training held in Chicago, Dec. 6-7, 2019.

Senior digital fellow

One position

This position receives a small stipend, expectation is to work with ambassadors and the social media team to post content, the sections and groups (with the exception of the Medical Student Section), identify trends and sentiment across all social media platforms. Expected commitment is five hours per month and monthly one-hour teleconferences.

Med student digital fellow

One position

For a current medical student, this position receives a small stipend, expectation is to work with the leadership of the Medical Student Section, ambassadors and the social media team to post content, identify trends and sentiment across all social media platforms. Expected commitment is five hours per month and monthly one-hour teleconferences.

2020 conference scholarships applications

AMA Ambassador conference scholarships provide members, who would otherwise be unable to participate in the AMA’s advocacy conferences, an opportunity to attend and be trained as AMA Ambassador to effectively share their experiences prior to, during, and after conference. Applications are now being accepted for the following two 2020 conferences:

2020 State Advocacy Summit

Jan. 8-11, 2020 - Bonita Springs, Florida

Eligible candidates are current AMA members not serving in a leadership position (section GCs, committees, councils and board). Candidates must attend the full conference and the ambassador training session on the morning of Jan. 9 and have not received a conference scholarship in the past.

2020 National Advocacy Conference

Feb. 9-12, 2020 - Washington, D.C.

Eligible candidates are current AMA members not serving in a leadership position (section GCs, committees, councils and board). Candidates must attend the full conference and the ambassador training session on the morning of Feb. 10 and have not received a conference scholarship in the past.
