Sectional delegates are voting members elected by the RFS Assembly to represent the interests of resident and fellow physicians in the House of Delegates. The delegates and alternate delegates are credentialed representatives who must be AMA members. They represent various constituencies, such as state and specialty medical societies. Each delegate and alternate delegate must receive written endorsement from a society or organization currently seated in the House of Delegates. All elected delegates and alternate delegates will serve a one-year term.

  • Attend all RFS caucus meetings, both virtual and in-person, to assist our caucus in developing stances on resolutions.
  • Attend and participate in state and specialty society review processes as a way strategize and advocate on behalf of RFS priorities.

The deadline to apply for the sectional delegate and sectional alternate delegate position has passed. However, during the opening of RFS business on Friday, Nov. 14, the floor will be open for nominations per section V. of the RFS IOPs. Candidates may self-nominate or be nominated by another member of the RFS. Anyone who chooses to run from the floor will be required to submit an application with an endorsement by Monday, Dec. 15. Please note, since the application deadline has passed, candidates who participate in floor nominations will not be reflected on the RFS election page.

RFS standing committees

Standing committees are appointed by the Resident & Fellow Section Governing Council and assist them in furthering the mission of the section. The committees seek to increase resident and fellow involvement with the section, promote RFS position statements, and carry out projects specific to their area of expertise.

We invite all interested interns, residents, and fellows to apply. This is a unique leadership opportunity for both newer and more seasoned members to advance their careers and potentially move into an RFS Governing Council or councilor position.

We highly value diversity in training year, specialty, geographic location, and personal background. We strongly encourage folks to apply identifying with historically marginalized groups. The time commitment is flexible, typically requiring an additional hour per month on average. No prior committee experience is necessary

We are seeking members for various committees including:

  • Committee on Business and Economics
  • Committee on Legislation and Advocacy
  • Committee on Long-Range Planning
  • Committee on Medical Education
  • Committee on Public Health
  • Committee on Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

Committee descriptions are found in the application.
