International Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer opportunities with an international focus are available for physicians seeking public service experience both in the United States and overseas.

Franklin Fellows Program with U.S. Department of State: The Franklin Fellows Program is a unique and innovative initiative that allows you to grow professionally while doing public service. You will have the opportunity to work on global issues of vital importance to our country, including avian influenza, HIV/AIDS, the environment, counterterrorism, human rights, trade, energy and many other issues.Requirements: You must be a United States citizen and have a minimum of 5 years professional experience. On-Call Scientist with the American Association for the Advancement of Science: This initiative aims to expand pro bono science in the service of human rights. Physicians are needed to document evidence of torture and other abuse for men and women fleeing persecution in their home countries and seeking asylum in the United States.
