The AMA Women Physicians Section (WPS) hosted its business meeting that featured a presentation by Kimberly Templeton, MD, one of the 2017 recipients of the Joan F. Giambalvo Fund for the Advancement of Women. Her talk focused on “The more things change: Issues facing senior women physicians.”
The business meeting also included a discussion of I-18 WPS resolutions and a review of the AMA House of Delegates (HOD) Handbook. The AMA-WPS authored two resolutions that were considered by the AMA House of Delegates: Resolution 209: Sexual Assault Education and Prevention in Public Schools and Resolution 913: Addressing the Public Health Implications of Pornography.

The AMA-WPS held its Associates lunch and business meeting, which featured various state and specialty medical societies’ updates on important issues related to women physicians. Also, Dr. Maya Hammoud, the AMA’s Senior Advisor on Medical Education Innovation and a Professor from the University of Michigan Medical School discussed “Advancing Women in Leadership: Narrowing the gender gap in negotiation.”
