2023 RFS Annual Meeting highlights

The AMA Resident and Fellow Section (RFS) held its annual meeting on Friday, June 9 in Chicago with more than 85 residents and fellows representing 15 states and 18 specialty societies.

The RFS Assembly considered one report and 16 resolutions prompting robust discussion on important issues affecting trainees such as scope of practice, confidentiality of sexual orientation and gender identity data, non-compete clauses in employment contracts, and gun violence.

The section immediately transmitted five resolutions to the House of Delegates for consideration at its June 2023 Meeting. Learn more about these and other policies considered by the AMA House of Delegates.

The RFS elected six members to the 2023-2024 governing council:

  • Dayna Isaacs, MD, MPH, vice chair
  • Anna Heffron, MD, PhD, delegate
  • Joey Whelihan, MD, alternate delegate
  • David Savage, MD, PhD, speaker
  • Moudi Hubeishy, MD, vice speaker
  • Brandon Francis, MD, member-at-large

Stay tuned for upcoming leadership opportunities on the RFS Standing Committees, including: Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI), Medical Education, Public Health, Business and Economics, and more. In addition, we are continuing the Internal Operating Procedure Revisions ad-hoc committee. Applications are due July 17.
