Racial, ethnic mental health disparities in the spotlight this month

| 1 Min Read

During Mental Health Month, observed each May, the AMA Minority Affairs Section encourages all physicians to recognize and work to address the racial and ethnic disparities that exist in mental health care.

Mental Health America, previously known as the National Mental Health Association, aims to address mental health disparities among racial and ethnic minority populations living in rural and underserved communities.

The Mental Health America website offers online screening tools for patients who may have depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, and helps educate patients about improving their health.
