AMA House of Delegates process for submitting a resolution

UPDATED | 2 Min Read

The Office of the House of Delegates is now accepting resolution submissions for the 2025 Annual Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates.

As a result of HOD action at the 2024 Annual Meeting and changes to AMA bylaw 2.11.3, please take note of important deadlines and information concerning the submission of HOD resolutions:

On-time deadline: April 22, 2025, noon Central

  • All appropriately formatted resolutions received by this deadline will be considered on-time and posted to the Online Reference Committees for review and comment.
  • Submit finalized resolutions to [email protected]. The HOD office will send a confirmation email upon receipt of the submission.

AMA section exception

  • The AMA section exception is for resolutions adopted at section business meetings held after the April 22 deadline and prior to the AMA HOD opening session on Friday, June 6, 2025.
  • Resolutions will be distributed in the Meeting Tote posted on Saturday morning prior to the second session of the HOD.
  • These resolutions will not be included in the Online Reference Committees but will be reviewed at the in-person reference committee hearings.

A resolution template, sample, and instructions are provided for resolution submissions.

Important reminders for submitting a resolution:

  • The HOD office will not format or edit resolution submissions
  • Resolutions that do not adhere to the template will be returned to the sponsor for editing
  • Submit resolutions as soon as possible to allow time for review of proper formatting prior to the deadline
  • No resolution edits/corrections will be accepted after the submission deadline

Per AMA bylaw 2.11.3.1, “To be considered as regular business, each resolution must be introduced by a delegate or organization represented in the House of Delegates.” If a resolution is submitted by anyone other than a delegate or organization represented in the HOD, it will not be accepted by the HOD office.
