NHSC can help with student loan debt

The National Health Service Corps Students to Service Loan Repayment Program (NHSC S2S LRP) application is now open through Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. Medical students may qualify for up to $120,000 in tax-free loan repayment for their medical school student loans in exchange for a three-year service commitment in a high-need rural, tribal or urban community.  

The basic program eligibility requirements are: 

  • A United States (U.S) citizen or U.S. national
  • Full-time student in the final year at an accredited school, pursuing a degree in the following primary health care disciplines:
    • Physician (MD or DO)
    • Dentist (DDS or DMD)
    • Nurse Practitioner (NP)
    • Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM)
    • Physician Assistant (PA)

AMA releases educational resources to advance equity in health care

In alignment with its commitment to inform and educate physicians on topics important to health equity, the AMA announced a series of CME and educational activities aimed at addressing the root causes of inequities, including racism and other structural determinants of health. The new content—featured on the AMA Ed Hub™ Health Equity Education Center and curated by the AMA’s Center for Health Equity—will equip physicians and other learners with core health equity concepts needed to support them as they continue to take action and confront health injustice.
