Official candidate notification
Pursuant to HOD policy, the Official Candidate Notification for the 2026 AMA Elections (PDF), is current as of March 5, 2026. Please note, a candidate for president-elect has been added. Individuals considering becoming a candidate for any of the existing open or potential newly open positions are encouraged to send an email with an electronic announcement card to [email protected] notifying us of your intention to be a candidate.
A-26 resolution submissions
Resolutions for the 2026 Annual Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates are now being accepted. The 45-day on time resolution deadline is April 21, 2026, at noon Central. Please note, it can take up to 24 hours for resolutions to be reviewed. Resolutions will not be accepted as on-time if any requested revisions have not been addressed by the sponsor by this deadline. To guarantee that your resolution makes it through the review process, you should submit your resolutions by April 15, 2026, at noon Central. Detailed information about resolution submission to the HOD office along with resolution templates may be found on the AMA House of Delegates process for submitting a resolution page.
Resolutions adopted and forwarded by the AMA section meetings held after the on-time deadline and prior to the HOD opening session are excepted.
Resolution office hours
Have questions or need assistance while drafting resolutions? To expedite approval of your resolutions once submitted, the HOD office and the AMA Office of General Counsel will conduct resolution office hours to answer any questions while preparing resolutions for submission. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to aid in efficient approvals of submitted resolutions.
Please call (312) 464-4492 to get your resolution questions answered. Staff from each department will be available by telephone at these dates/times:
- Tuesday, April 7, 2026: 9–11 a.m. Central
- Thursday, April 9, 2026: 2–4 p.m. Central
Online Reference Committees
The A-26 Online Reference Committees (ORC) will open for comments on Thursday, April 30 at 5 p.m. Central. The ORC will close for general comments on Wednesday, May 20 at 5 p.m. Central. They will remain open for report and resolution author comments only until Thursday, May 21 at 5 p.m. Central. Any comments received after May 20 at 5 p.m. Central that are not from an author will be deleted.
Volunteer applications
Submit your application now to serve on reference committees (other than F), Rules & Credentials Committee and as assistant tellers for the 2026 Annual Meeting. Complete the A-26 HOD Committee Volunteer Form and indicate all positions for which you would be interested in serving. Please check the appropriate box if you are interested in chairing a committee and share your qualifications in your comments. The deadline to submit the volunteer form is Friday, April 3, by noon Central.
All reference committees will meet virtually between May 22 and 28, 2026, for their preliminary executive session and report reviews. The Preliminary Reference Committee Reports must be completed in time to be posted on May 29, 2026.
A-26 HOD credentialing
HOD credentialing information for all delegations is due Monday, March 23, 2026. A-26 meeting credentials for all delegate(s) and alternate delegate(s) are based on the information provided by this deadline. Delegation staff have been emailed directly to confirm or update the credential information the HOD office currently has on file. The HOD office maintains a list of board and council reports expected at future Interim and Annual Meetings. The Pending & Forthcoming Reports list has been updated and can be accessed from the HOD speaker’s info page.

Applications for appointed AMA councils
The AMA is currently soliciting applications for candidates to fill vacancies that will occur on appointed AMA councils in 2026. It is requested that all applications be submitted with accompanying updated biographical materials by Monday, March 16, 2026.

Note: Applications for resident/fellow and medical student positions are not being accepted currently as the deadline for Council applications has passed.
