Competency-based medical education (CBME) requires a vigorous and multidimensional assessment system. To successfully implement CBME, assessment processes must be continuous and frequent, criterion-based, developmental and work-based where possible.
As competency-based medical education emerges as the predominant educational paradigm, more collaborative approaches to address the challenges in assessment, and defining best practices are needed.
