AMA-RFS Standing Committee
Standing committees are appointed by the Resident & Fellow Section Governing Council (GC) and assist them in furthering the mission of the section. The committees seek to increase resident and fellow involvement with the section, promote RFS position statements, and carry out projects specific to their area of expertise.

Temporary sectional alternate delegate
The RFS is currently filling sectional alternate delegate vacancies. These vacancies are filled by a temporary appointment of RFS members who will be present at the 2024 Annual Meeting, June 8–12, Hyatt Regency Chicago and 2024 Interim Meeting, Nov. 9–12, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, Orlando, Florida, at the discretion of the RFS delegate and alternate delegate.

MAS Governing Council resident seat
Members of the Minority Affairs Section (MAS) Governing Council are responsible for directing the programs and activities of the section and give voice to and advocate for issues that impact minority physicians, residents/fellows and medical students.
The resident/fellow term is two years, beginning June 2024.

WPS Governing Council resident seat
Members of the Women Physicians Section (WPS) Governing Council are responsible for directing the programs and activities of the section and give voice to and advocate for issues that impact women physicians, residents/fellows and medical students.
The resident/fellow term is two years, beginning June 2024.

IMGS Governing Council resident seat
Members of the International Medical Graduates (IMGS) Governing Council are responsible for leading the IMG Section in ensuring equity in licensure and credentialing.
The resident/fellow term is two years, beginning June 2024.

COL resident seat
The Council on Legislation (COL) reviews proposed federal legislation and recommends appropriate action in accordance with AMA policy. It recommends changes in existing AMA policy when necessary to accomplish effective legislative goals and develops and recommends models for state legislation to the Board of Trustees. COL also serves as a reference council through which all legislative issues of the AMA are channeled prior to final consideration by the Board.
The resident/fellow term is one year, beginning June 2024.

CEJA resident seat
The Council on Ethical and Judicial Affairs (CEJA) has two primary responsibilities. Through its policy development function, it maintains and updates the AMA Code of Medical Ethics. In its judicial function, it promotes adherence to the code’s professional ethical standards.
The resident/fellow term is three years, beginning June 2024.

CLRPD resident seat
The Council on Long Range Planning & Development (CLRPD) studies long-term strategic issues related to the AMA’s vision, goals and priorities and advises the Board of Trustees on strategies to reach the AMA's long-range objectives. It identifies and evaluates ways to enhance the AMA's policy development process and evaluates and makes recommendations to the House of Delegates on the formation or change of any AMA member group or section.
The resident/fellow term is two years, beginning June 2024.

AMAF Board of Directors resident seat
The one-year term of service (with second-year option) will begin upon the adjournment of the 2024 Annual Meeting in June. Nominations will be considered by the AMAF Board of Directors and the AMA Board of Trustees at their May 2024 meetings, respectively.

Surgical Caucus Executive Committee resident seat
The Surgical Caucus of the AMA exists to provide a forum at each session of the House of Delegates for discussion and recommendations concerning professional and socioeconomic issues of particular interest to surgeons.
The resident/fellow term is one year, beginning June 2024.

Medical Justice in Advocacy Fellowship
The Medical Justice in Advocacy (MJA) Fellowship is a collaborative educational initiative to empower physician-led advocacy that advances equity and removes barriers to optimal health for marginalized people and communities. It is open to all physicians and residents who have a demonstrated interest in health equity and health advocacy.
Application deadline: March 15, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern (10:59 p.m. Central).
