This week-long initiative empowers future health care professionals to engage with policymakers and advocate for policies that improve patient care and the practice of medicine.

Medical students across the United States come together to raise awareness about pressing issues in health care and to amplify their voices in the policymaking process. They advocate for policies that address key areas such as access to care, health equity, medical education funding and research funding.

One of the primary objectives of this initiative is to emphasize the importance of health care advocacy as an essential skill for medical professionals. Medical students learn how to effectively communicate with lawmakers, analyze health care policies and propose evidence-based solutions to complex health care challenges.

The Advocacy in Action Workshop highlights the commitment of future physicians to advocate for the well-being of patients and the betterment of the health care system. Their efforts contribute to a stronger, more responsive health care system that can address the evolving needs of patients and communities.

Through advocacy, these future health care professionals play a crucial role in advancing patient-centered policies and ensuring access to quality health care for all.
