The LGBTQ+ Section provides counsel to the Board of Trustees and to other AMA stakeholders on policy matters that relate to LGBTQ physicians, students and patients.
Applicants should self-identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and/or queer; allies are also eligible for membership. Applicants should have LGBTQ health expertise and/or experience in care delivery, clinical practice, research, policy, education and/or advocacy.

- Member at-large position (2-year term, 2025-2027)
- RFS liaison (2-year term, 2025-2027)
- YPS liaison (2-year term, 2025-2027)
- MSS liaison (1-year term, 2025-2026)
* Alternate delegate transitions to a 2-year term in 2026. Delegates are elected for 2-year terms in odd number year elections and alternate delegates are elected for 2-year terms in even number year elections.
