Please designate if you wish to declare your candidacy for an open position or for a potential newly opened position.
Election Committee report
As per the reporting requirements of our campaign rules, this is a summary of Election Committee (EC) activities for the Annual 2026 campaign and election cycle.
- The Election Committee reports that there was one complaint filed during the A-26 election cycle which the committee determined was unsubstantiated.
- The Election Committee is currently reviewing several areas of the election rules and will have a report at the 2026 Interim Meeting with recommended clarifications. If you have comments/suggestions regarding campaign-related issues, please email [email protected] no later than Monday, July 20, 2026. We would especially appreciate candidates’ impressions/suggestions.
Reference Committee F volunteers
Volunteers are needed for appointment to Reference Committee F. The committee deals with AMA’s governance and financial matters, including such things as the annual plan, budget and business products, and is responsible for ensuring that the HOD has adequate information regarding the fiscal circumstances of the AMA. While the typical reference committee exists for a single meeting, members of Reference Committee F serve two-year terms (four meetings) and meet with the Board of Trustees between HOD meetings, meaning their time commitment is more substantial; in fact, the chair serves an additional third year in that capacity. Given the special role of the committee, along with the matters that come before it and the longer term of service, this separate application is required: Reference Committee F volunteer form. Prior AMA HOD reference committee experience is recommended.
Because Reference Committee F members meet at each annual and interim meeting to consider items of business before the Online Reference Committee, they must be available to meet virtually during the weeks prior to each Opening of the HOD to develop their Preliminary Reference Committee Report.
The deadline to submit the volunteer form is Tuesday, June 30, 2026, and appointments will be made in the first half of July. The full committee will meet with the Board of Trustees Sept. 14-15 in Chicago.
Committee on Conduct at AMA Meetings and Events (CCAM)
The AMA is currently solicitating nominations for appointments to the CCAM, which is convened pursuant to AMA Policy H-140.837, AMA Policy on Conduct at AMA Meetings and Events. Individuals are encouraged to self-nominate. Endorsements from delegations or others are not required or expected.
The AMA is seeking applicants to fill one (1) vacancy:
- One (1) CCAM member for a three-year term beginning at the conclusion of the 2026 Interim Meeting and ending at the conclusion of the 2029 Interim Meeting.
The individual appointed will be eligible for reappointment to serve a subsequent second term of three (3) years, for a total of six (6) years.
All applicants must complete and submit the appointed council/committee application form no later than Tuesday, June 30, 2026. All applicants must also complete a Conflict of Interest (COI) disclosure statement. The COI will be sent to all applicants through Docusign for completion.
The AMA welcomes nominations representing a variety of personal experiences, values and worldviews that arise from differences in culture and circumstance.
Leadership opportunities with ACCME and ACGMA
AMA members are invited to apply for AMA nomination for leadership opportunities with external medical education and accreditation organizations. Application materials for current opportunities, which include the ACCME and various ACGME review committees are posted on the AMA medical education leadership opportunities page. Applications are due July 10, 2026.
Please email Mary Grandau with any questions or if you are interested in learning more about future AMA nomination opportunities.
Election Committee volunteers
The speakers are seeking volunteers to serve on the Election Committee (EC). EC members are eligible for reappointment annually up to four terms sequentially and up to eight years in total. Terms will begin immediately following the 2026 Interim Meeting. You must also agree not to be directly involved in a campaign during your tenure.
The primary role of the EC is to work with the speakers to adjudicate election complaints. Additional roles are determined by the speaker may also include monitoring election reforms, responding to requests from the speaker for input on election issues, reviewing the campaign complaint reporting, validation and resolution process, and making recommendations to the House regarding campaign/election issues.
The deadline to submit the Election Committee volunteer form is Thursday, Aug. 13, by 5 p.m. Central.
Reference Committee volunteers
The speakers are currently accepting applications to serve on reference committees (other than F), Rules & Credentials Committee and as tellers for the 2026 Interim Meeting. Please complete the I-26 HOD Committee volunteer form and indicate all positions for which you would be interested in serving. You must complete this form to be considered for service at I-26 as previous forms are not retained. The deadline to submit the volunteer form is Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, by 5 p.m. Central.
All reference committees will meet virtually between Friday, Oct. 23 and Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026, for their preliminary executive session and report reviews. Volunteers are asked to be available during this window for these meetings. The Preliminary Reference Committee Reports must be completed in time to be posted on Oct. 30, 2026, by 5 p.m. Central.
AMPAC Board of Directors
The American Medical Association is currently soliciting applications to fill one vacancy on the AMPAC Board of Directors.
The AMA Board of Trustees will appoint a new member to the AMPAC Board at the September 2026 meeting. Members of the AMPAC Board serve a two-year term and may be eligible to serve three additional terms for a maximum tenure of eight years.
Applicants must submit the board-approved application, a two-page (maximum) executive resume, and may submit one letter of recommendation. For additional information on the application process and to download the most current AMPAC application, visit the council and committee applications page.
