Physicians of the Future Summit—Region 7_Graphic

Annually, the Medical Student Section regions host Physicians of the Future Summits in January and February, which allow for educational programs and further discussion on policy development relevant to each region and its membership.

In 2022 the region summits were held virtually Feb. 5.

Region 7 sessions were especially impactful and included community service discussions, a panel on supporting first generation medical students and medical students from low-income backgrounds (FGLI) as well as health policy during the pandemic and the roles of medical-legal partnerships in health care.

Thank you to Andria Tatem, MD, and Gavin Rogers, MD, as well as current medical students for sharing your stories about the path to medicine as an FGLI physician/student.

We would also like to thank Zita Lazzarini, JD, MPH (UConn) and Rebecca Russo (Legal Assistance of Western New York) for their wonderful presentations on health policy in the world of COVID-19 as well as the importance of medical-legal partnerships in health care.

If you are interested in learning more about how you can get involved in community service or want to learn more about the local research projects created by our community service chair, Hannah, please reach out to them via email at [email protected].

This year all regions convened for a joint session on Feb. 5 from noon.-2 p.m. Central, which was followed by separate region summits. .

See the agenda tab for more information on the region 7 summit, or download the PDF.
