Statement attributed to:

Steven J. Stack, MD

President, American Medical Association

“The American Medical Association commends the U.S. House of Representatives for their efforts to eliminate the Medicare sequester increase and extension as part of the trade package.

“Reductions to Medicare reimbursements significantly impact patients and providers and can reduce access to care. Medicare should not be used as a piggybank to fund other programs.

“We encourage the U.S. Senate to move expeditiously to ensure that any final trade package does not include harmful Medicare cuts.”
