The American Medical Association mourns the death of New York Times reporter Robert Pear, an indefatigable newsman who helped millions understand the complexities of health care with his lucid writing and keen understanding of policy. Combining tenacity and civility, Pear was unmatched in explaining how Washington affected the lives of physicians and patients. The AMA sends condolences to his family, the New York Times and the reading public.
