The AMA Young Physicians Section (YPS) held its 2022 Interim Assembly Meeting on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. This meeting was attended by nearly 100 representatives from various state and specialty societies.

Young physicians from across the country discussed priority issues and worked on shaping American Medical Association policy. The YPS reviewed several items of business before the House of Delegates including the following resolutions authored by YPS:

  • Res. 202: Advocating for State GME Funding
  • Res. 801: Parity in Military Reproductive Health Insurance Coverage for All Service Members and Veterans

The YPS hosted an educational program on “The Journey of Your Vote: The Impact of Midterm Elections.” Todd Askew, AMA senior vice president, advocacy provided the Assembly with powerful insights on the unanticipated results of the 2022 elections and their health policy implications.

Finally, the Assembly elected Sean Figy, MD, as its alternate delegate. Dr. Figy will serve an unexpired term until the close of the 2023 Annual Meeting of the House of Delegates.
