Private Practice Physicians Section (PPPS) leadership opportunities

The Private Practice Physicians Section (PPPS) offers its members various opportunities to be involved and advocate for patients and the profession.

PPPS Governing Council elections

The strategy and activities of the PPPS are directed by an eight-member governing council elected by section membership.

The next PPPS election will be held June 5, 2026. Open positions will include:

  • Chair
  • Chair-elect
  • Delegate
  • Alternate delegate
  • Secretary
  • Member at-large (1-8)
  • Member at-large (9-50)

The application for these open positions will be posted once available. 

Your Powerful Ally

The AMA is your powerful ally, focused on addressing the issues important to you, so you can focus on what matters most—patients. We will meet this challenge together.

Submit a resolution

Contribute to PPPS policymaking efforts by submitting a resolution for consideration at a PPPS meeting. Visit the PPPS online member forum for more information or submit resolutions to Jason Ranville at [email protected].

Serve on a committee

Volunteer opportunities are available at PPPS meetings (June and November) and throughout the year:

  • Reference Committee: Plays integral role in PPPS policymaking process
  • Candidate Interview Committee: Interviews candidates for AMA elected offices and provides feedback to section members
  • Policy Committee: Assists in the ongoing policy development process
  • Advocacy Committee: Advocated on behalf of private practice
