CHICAGO — In her address at the American Medical Association (AMA) Annual Meeting, AMA President Barbara L. McAneny today outlined a number of advocacy victories from the past year. She specifically mentioned taking on insurance companies to reform prior authorization to acting as a leading voice for gun violence protection policies, and she spotlighted the AMA’s work to block the Administration’s rule that would decimate the Title X program and limit the medical advice physicians can give their Title X patients.

Dr. McAneny said: “I’ve never been more proud of the AMA than I was this spring when we joined forces to sue the federal government to protect millions of women who receive reproductive care through Title X … fighting to preserve our ability to have open conversations with our patients about all their health care options.
