The AMA Physician’s Recognition Award (PRA) acknowledges physicians who demonstrate commitment to patient care through continuing medical education (CME). The PRA recognizes physicians who earn an average of 50 credits per year from educational activities.
The PRA is an award of recognition for the many thousands of physicians who regularly participate in CME and demonstrate a commitment to keeping current with the advances in biomedical science as well as other developments in medicine. Credits are not given with this award.
Eligibility for Physician’s Recognition Award
Physicians (MDs, DOs or those with equivalent degrees earned outside the United States) may apply for the PRA if they hold a valid and current license issued by either one of the U.S., Canadian or Mexican licensing jurisdictions or are engaged in residency training in a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Nonphysician health professionals are not eligible for the award.
