Elisa Choi, MD, board-certified in both internal medicine and infectious diseases and on the faculty at Harvard Medical School, is the immediate past chair of the WPS Governing Council. She also serves as member at-large for the 2025-2027 term.
The WPS is a member interest group within the AMA for women physicians and medical students. The section governing council is responsible for increasing the membership, participation and leadership of women in the AMA as well as advocating on women’s health and women in medicine policy issues.
Dr. Choi previously served on AMA’s HOD Rules and Reference Committee. She is past chair of the American College of Physicians’ (ACP) Board of Governors (BOG), past governor of Massachusetts ACP Chapter, and became the first Asian American female and first woman elected to those two leadership roles, respectively. She is a past regent of ACP's Board of Regents. Dr. Choi serves on ACP’s delegation to AMA’s HOD and is chief of internal medicine in her practice.
