Joshua Carrasco, MD, MPH, serves as vice chair and a member at-large on the Underrepresented in Medicine Advocacy Section (UMAS) Governing Council at the American Medical Association. 

The UMAS is a member interest group within the AMA dedicated to addressing the issues and concerns of underrepresented minority physicians and improving the health of minority populations.

Dr. Carrasco earned his bachelor's degree in neurobiology at the University of Texas, Austin, a master's in public health at UT Health Houston, and his MD at UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine. He completed a pediatric residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and is currently an adolescent medicine fellow at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
