The Resident and Fellow Section (RFS) held its 2023 Interim Meeting on Friday, Nov. 10 in National Harbor, Maryland, with more than 100 residents and fellows representing 17 states and 16 specialty societies.
The RFS Assembly considered one report and 13 resolutions prompting robust discussion on important issues affecting trainees such as pregnancy and parental leave, parity in mental health and substance use coverage, and transforming the USMLE Step 3 exam to alleviate financial burden, facilitate high-quality patient care, and promote well-being.
The section immediately transmitted two resolutions to the House of Delegates for consideration at its November 2023 Meeting. Learn more about these and other policies considered by the AMA House of Delegates.
The RFS held several elections and an endorsement and would like to congratulate those selected:
- Haidn Foster, MD, RFS Governing Council, chair-elect
- Rachel Ekaireb, MD, Council on Science & Public Health, resident member endorsement
The RFS also elected 35 sectional delegates and 24 alternate sectional delegates.
The RFS has several upcoming leadership opportunities including on RFS standing committees, GC positions, and resident seats on AMA councils. Stay tuned!
Thank you for your ongoing engagement and dedication to our section!
