Jared Buteau

Jared Buteau, a medical student at University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville, serves as delegate of the Medical Student Section (MSS) Governing Council for the 2025-2026 term.

The MSS is a member interest group within the AMA for medical students. The governing council is responsible for directing MSS efforts at the national level to improve medical education and advocate for the future of medicine.

Buteau has served in various national, regional, state and local leadership roles, including as chair and chapter delegate for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville, IMPACT analyst, Region 4 policy chair and IMPACT chair. Buteau was awarded the MSS Rising Star in 2024, given to a student member of the MSS who shows promise in becoming a leader amongst their peers both within the AMA and in their future endeavors. Buteau is also a medical student trustee for the South Carolina Medical Association.
