The International Medical Graduates Section (IMGS) celebrated its 26th Interim Meetings beginning with its Governing Council meeting on Nov. 10 and the IMGS Congress Business meetings.
The Congress Business meeting featured Dr. Sandra Fryhofer, member of the AMA Board of Trustees, who gave a vaccine update, and guest speaker Lisa A. Robin, chief advocacy officer from the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), who provided a comprehensive update on FSMB activities, GME and licensure parity information. Her presentation engaged the audience and resulted in many participant questions.
Resolution review
The Section members discussed HOD policy initiatives of interest and voted upon items for consideration. One resolution was submitted for this November meeting.
Leadership Development Program & Caucus
Participants attended the Busharat Ahmad, MD, Leadership Development Program which featured Sethu Reddy, MD, providing a presentation on: Finding Success As An Academic Physician Leader. Participants learned how to train and cultivate the leadership skills in medical curricula through the continuum of their training. This program designated a maximum of 1.0 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
On Monday, Nov. 13, the IMGS culminated its meetings with the joint IMGS and Minority Affairs Section Delegates Caucus in conjunction with the House of Delegates meeting.
