Academic Physicians Section (APS) policymaking

UPDATED | 2 Min Read

Members of the Academic Physicians Section (APS) have a unique opportunity to shape AMA policy and advocate for medical education and related topics of interest.

Your Powerful Ally

The AMA is your powerful ally, focused on addressing the issues important to you, so you can focus on what matters most—patients. We will meet this challenge together.

New to the policymaking process? Access the education module, How AMA Policy is Made, to learn how APS members influence the AMA’s policymaking efforts.

APS members may submit resolutions for consideration at biannual meetings of the APS (June and November). Resolutions for consideration at the 2025 APS Annual Meeting must be submitted by April 6 to [email protected]. View the APS resolution template (DOCX).

The APS Resolution Guide (DOCX) is available to assist with resolution development. If you are not ready to draft a resolution, you can share your idea using this guide. Please send a completed guide to [email protected] by Feb. 6 for possible consideration during the 2025 APS Annual Meeting.

If you have questions or need assistance, please email [email protected].

APS members are invited to comment on policy proposals in advance of each APS business meeting through the online member forum. Authors are encouraged to comment on their own resolutions if they believe doing so would be informative to other reviewers.
