MSOP Race to Recruit

Join the Medical Student Outreach Program (MSOP) team in our Race to Recruit. From July through April, let’s race to recruit as many students as we can to join the AMA. The more students who join the AMA, the further we progress in our race together. Students involved in leadership positions with the AMA will be eligible to participate and receive national recognition for their recruitment work.

How to participate and be recognized

MSOP Region of the Year

The AMA Medical Student Section (MSS) is split into seven geographic regions. This year, one region will be recognized as the MSOP Region of the Year. This campaign will kick off at the Annual Meeting in June and run through April 30! A leader board will be available at the AMA Interim Meeting in November, announcing each region’s progress and what each region can do to help their region win by the 2027 Annual Meeting. The winning region will be announced at the Annual Meeting next June.

Regions will be evaluated based on MSOP engagement from July–April. This includes: first year student membership growth, outreach leader representation in the region, Region leadership participation in MSOP training sessions, student member engagement in AMA programs, and more! The region representing the MSOP Region of the Year will receive a CELEBRATION at the Annual Meeting in June. The region’s chair and recruitment chair will also be recognized at the Annual Meeting and on the AMA website.

Exceptional Achievements in School Recruitment

Beyond regional recognition, individual schools are eligible to be recognized for their efforts in growing student membership on their campus. Each month, the school that has recruited the highest number of first year student members through MSOP will be recognized with the Exceptional Achievement in School Recruitment. Schools can check their progress in the MSOP Dashboard. Schools are limited to one win per year. Winning local campus sections will be eligible to receive additional Section Involvement Grant funding.
