Credentialing

Only credentialed delegates will be permitted to vote on policy matters and in elections. Credential through your state or specialty society by Oct. 17. Questions? Email [email protected].

Resolution submission

Contribute to RFS policymaking efforts by submitting a resolution for consideration at the 2026 RFS Interim Meeting.

Policymaking dates and deadlines

  • Aug. 31: Draft RFS resolutions due at 11:59 p.m. Central
  • Sept. 14: Feedback due to resolution authors
  • Sept. 21: Final RFS resolutions due at 11:59 p.m. Central
  • Sept. 28: Virtual Reference Committee (VRC) opens
  • Week of Oct. 5: Live Zoom testimony session
  • Oct. 9: Virtual Reference Committee closes
  • Nov. 2: RFS Reference Committee report released

Online member forum

Visit the RFS online member forum to review and comment on policy proposals that will be discussed at the meeting. The forum will be open Sept. 28 through Oct. 9. The deadline to submit comments for consideration by the RFS reference committee is October 9.

Governing council elections

Programs and activities of the RFS are directed by a seven-member governing council elected annually by members of the section. This position is up for election at the 2026 Interim Meeting:

2027 sectional delegates/alternate sectional delegates elections

Sectional delegates represent the interests of resident and fellow physicians in the House of Delegates. The term for a sectional/alternate delegate is one year. Attendance at the House of Delegates Annual Meeting (June 11- 16, 2027, in Chicago, Illinois) and the House of Delegates Interim meeting (Nov. 12 – 15, 2027, in Chula Vista, California) is required.

Resident seat endorsement for AMA Board of Trustees and council positions

The RFS Assembly will endorse one candidate for each of these resident positions during the 2026 Interim Meeting: 
•    Board of Trustees—Resident member
•    Council on Constitution and Bylaws—Resident member
•    Council on Medical Education—Resident member
•    Council on Medical Service—Resident member

Any and all candidates may wish to continue their candidacy at the HOD meeting, regardless of whether they receive this endorsement from the RFS assembly.
