Certification & licensure: Council on Medical Education reports

Updated | 2 Min Read

The Council on Medical Education monitors the processes for specialty board certification, continuing board certification (formerly called maintenance of certification), state-based medical licensure, and maintenance of licensure on an ongoing basis. These reports provide updates on some of the changes related to certification and licensure that have occurred as a result of the AMA’s continued advocacy for physicians at the national level with the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), and other stakeholders.
