The Board of Trustees guides the activities of the AMA and ensures that the AMA remains focused on its essential reason for being: to promote the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health. The board is composed of 21 members, including a medical student member elected by the Medical Student Section (MSS) at each Interim Meeting.

Responsibilities

  • Must attend a Board of Trustees meeting approximately every eight weeks
  • Will be required to attend a two-day orientation in July
  • Should attend each meeting of the MSS Governing Council and meetings of the trustee’s assigned council
  • Should attend their state and county medical society meetings

Term of service

One year, with the option to run for a second one-year term, commencing in June
