Appointed annually by the MSS Governing Council, the MSS standing committees support the mission of the MSS by performing various tasks as requested by the governing council.
Responsibilities
These AMA committees support the governing council in a number of ways, and responsibilities vary across the committees. Some of these include:
- Assisting in the creation and the review of policy proposals advocating for the health of diverse populations.
- Encouraging student members to engage deeply with health policy.
- Reviewing MSS resolutions in preparation for the annual and interim meetings.
- Organizing public health initiatives, establishing the AMA as a leader in improving public health.
- Advancing key student issues through educational initiatives.
Term of service
One year, commencing in July for summer applicants. Six months, commencing in January for fall applicants.
How to apply
- Standing committee leadership application: The deadline has passed to submit the 2025 application. The next application will be posted in 2026.
- Standing committee general membership application: Applications are due Nov. 24, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Central.
