The scope of my work in organized medicine encompasses several critical areas, notably public health, advocacy and leadership. The recognition of public health's integral role in all aspects of health care and well-being has grown significantly. As a surgeon, I understand the fundamental importance of factors like safe water, proper nutrition and immunizations in ensuring optimal patient recovery. Moreover, as a physician, I am deeply committed to advocating for maternal and infant health, access to behavioral health care, and effective treatment for substance use disorders. As a health officer I have seen first hand the importance of school safety, disaster preparedness, and first responder workforce stability. My work on the Indiana Public Health Commission showcased my commitment to innovation and reaching the underserved.
