. 2 MIN READ

The American Medical Association is physicians’ powerful ally in patient care. The AMA represents physicians with a unified voice in courts and legislative bodies in the U.S., advocating at the federal and state levels on key issues such as scope of practice, prior authorization, Medicare reform and more.

In promoting the art and science of medicine through a wide range of efforts, the AMA contributes to the betterment of public health and to improvements in the training of tomorrow’s physicians.

The AMA’s House of Delegates (HOD) sets policy that addresses the most critical topics and issues in medicine, giving AMA members a voice in shaping the future of health care. All 50 states are represented in the HOD, as well as branches of the armed forces, federal health care departments and other national medical associations.
