“The spike in COVID-19 cases across Texas means lives are at risk, ICU beds in some locations are at or near capacity, and the progress we made toward reopening our economy could be undone. To be clear, reopening should not be confused with a return to normal. This virus is highly contagious and shows no signs of going away.
“Until we have a vaccine, our only option is incredible, unyielding vigilance—wear a mask, exercise safe physical distancing, and wash your hands or use hand sanitizer regularly. We all have a role to play in stopping the spread of COVID-19. We all have the power to protect ourselves, our fellow Texans, and the most vulnerable among us. Be safe, be aware, and please wear your mask.”
