AMA statement on waiver limiting patient access to life-saving drugs

| 1 Min Read

Statement attributable to:
Susan R. Bailey, MD
President, American Medical Association

“The Biden Administration has wisely withdrawn a pilot waiver that would have threatened the long-term outlook for Medicare beneficiaries. The American Medical Association has long advocated for the need to preserve Medicare patients’ access to drugs in the six protected classes and welcomes this change in the model. This ill-considered waiver would have denied vulnerable patients access to necessary and potentially life-saving medications. They can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the administration was looking out for them.”
