Patrice A. Harris M.D., M.A.
President, American Medical Association

“We commend the Administration for taking steps last week toward removing flavored e-cigarette products, including mint and menthol, from the market. We are pleased to see the Administration’s commitment to ensuring these harmful products will no longer be accessible to our nation’s youth. The AMA has long called on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to regulate e-cigarettes, particularly banning flavors and marketing practices that enhance the appeal of e-cigarette products to youth. The AMA has also long urged the FDA to prohibit the use of flavoring in all tobacco products and we urge the Administration to extend its flavor ban beyond e-cigarettes to include all tobacco products.
