Pre-visit planning is a common focus for a quality improvement project, especially one using a framework such as Plan–Do–Study–Act (PDSA). Under pre-visit planning, the health care practice takes some extra steps at the end of a patient visit—scheduling upcoming appointments, making lab test orders and gathering needed information. This approach enhances patient experience, saves time for the practice team and reduces costs.
