Why it’s important: More than ever, it is vital for physicians to take an entrepreneurial approach to managing their career to ensure that they are able to flourish while improving the nation’s health. Yet doing so is far from straightforward, and big questions abound.

Among them: What are the tradeoffs across venture, independent practice and hybrid pathways? When is a business model appropriate to pursue using venture capital? How do you identify financial and strategic red flags? Once you find some success, how do you scale? How does your financing strategy influence your long-term strategic flexibility?

Featuring physicians and health care leaders who have built and led successful health care businesses, practices and ventures, the AMA Physician Entrepreneur Forum will give participants practical insight into how physicians create, grow and partner in health care organizations, while building relationships with peers, collaborators and experienced leaders from across the country.

Featured speakers include:

  • Rushika Fernandopulle, MD, MPP, CEO of Liza Health.
  • Alan Cheng, MD, MBA, chief medical officer of cardiac rhythm management, Medtronic.
  • Sharif Vakili, MD, MBA, MS, co-founder and CEO of UpDoc.
