Physician access of AMA Profiles

| 2 Min Read

Regardless of AMA membership status, physicians may request that a profile (view a sample, PDF) be sent to a medical licensing board. A $40 processing fee is applied to all requests.

Regardless of AMA membership status, physicians may request a free self-inquiry profile (view a sample, PDF). Such a check of one’s profile can help physicians ensure that their data is accurately reported on a profile prior to credentialing or reappointment. A self-inquiry profile also comes in handy when locating primary-source verified data that a physician needs to include on an application for credentialing, privileging, and/or licensure.

As a privacy and security measure, AMA requires all physicians who request a self-inquiry profile to correctly answer a series of security questions based on information held within the AMA Physician Professional Data (formerly known as Masterfile). Physicians are allowed two opportunities to answer all four questions correctly before being locked out of the system. If locked out, please contact the AMA Member Service Center at 800-262-3211, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Central. Upon successful completion of the security process, physicians will need to read and accept the AMA Profiles Hub licensing agreement.

Requests to send a profile to a licensing board or to access a free self-inquiry profile can be made through our online platform AMA Profiles Hub.
