Volunteer applications

We are still in need of volunteers to serve on reference committees, Rules & Credentials Committee and as assistant tellers for the 2026 Annual Meeting. Complete the A-26 HOD Committee Volunteer Form and indicate all positions for which you would be interested in serving. Please check the appropriate box if you are interested in chairing a committee and share your qualifications in your comments. The deadline to submit the volunteer form is Friday, April 3, by noon Central.

All reference committees will meet virtually between May 22 and 28, 2026, for their preliminary executive session and report reviews. The Preliminary Reference Committee Reports must be completed in time to be posted on May 29, 2026.

Candidate interviews

Group registration

Per AMA Policy G-610.090, delegations and caucuses may choose to conduct virtual or in-person interviews for the 2026 AMA HOD elections. Delegations/caucuses that wish to interview A-26 candidates for AMA office must complete the A-26 Official Interviewing Group Form to be added to the list of interviewing groups that will be provided to the candidates for scheduling. The deadline for groups to submit their information for both the virtual and in-person interviews is Monday, April 13, 2026, by noon Central

Groups are reminded that candidates may not accept interview invitations from any group that is NOT found on this list. The HOD office will collate the list of groups wishing to interview for each position and send it to the corresponding candidates to schedule directly with the contact person designated by each interviewing group. This centralized official list provides transparency to all candidates seeking interviews, while allowing groups to decide if, when, how, and for which contests they wish to interview.

Important points:

  • Candidates will receive the list the day active campaigning begins, which will be announced by the speaker and may begin scheduling interviews immediately thereafter.
  • Candidates may not seek or accept an invitation to interview with a group that is not included on the official list.
  • Groups may do virtual or in-person interviews for each contest but may not do both.
  • Some groups may reach out to candidates to inform them of their interview plans, but it is the responsibility of the candidates to contact the groups’ designated person to arrange an interview.
  • If a group offers an interview to a candidate they must offer a similar interview to all candidates seeking the same position.
  • Any candidate may decline any interview.
  • The HOD office will not schedule interviews.
  • Recording interviews is allowed but only with the knowledge and consent of all participating individuals.
  • Recorded interviews may be disseminated to the interviewing group members when all are not present for the interview but should only be shared with members of the interviewing group. These recordings may not be used for any other purpose.
  • Candidates may only record an interview with prior notice to the interviewing group and the recordings may only be shared with members of the candidate’s campaign team.

A-26 virtual interview window

Virtual interviews are subject to the these constraints:

  • Interviews may be conducted only during a 9-14 day window designated by the speaker beginning at least two weeks but not more than six weeks prior to the scheduled opening session of the House of Delegates meeting at which elections will take place.
  • For this meeting your speaker has selected Thursday, April 30 – Saturday, May 9, 2026, for the virtual interview window.
  • Interviews conducted on weeknights must be scheduled between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. or on weekends between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. based on the candidate’s local time, unless another mutually acceptable time outside these hours is arranged.
  • Caucuses and delegations scheduling interviews for candidates within these parameters must offer alternatives to those candidates who have conflicts with the scheduled time.

A-26 in-person interview window

In-person interviews may be conducted between Friday, June 5 and Monday, June 8, 2026, except during House sessions, including reference committee hearings.

A-27 endorsement window reminder

Please be reminded that the A-27 election cycle endorsement window is currently open through Friday, June 5, 2026, at 5 p.m. Central. Note that A-27 candidates must be informed of receipt of an endorsement by this deadline. The official A-27 group endorsement list is posted on the AMA HOD candidate endorsement information page. Candidates may not be endorsed by a group that is not on this posted list, with the exception of groups eligible to “sponsor” a specific candidate.
