Stuart J. Glassman, MD, MBA
Candidate for Council on Constitution & Bylaws
Term: 2026-2030
Commitment to ethics, governance and teamwork
The importance of institutional ethics, bylaws and policies in guiding an organization is crucial to its success. No one individual sets the vision of the AMA, and teamwork is essential to advancing that mission.
The AMA Council on Constitution and Bylaws plays a vital role in ensuring that the governance structures and policies of the AMA remain clear, consistent and responsive to the evolving needs of physicians and patients. This work requires thoughtful policy review, stakeholder engagement and an impartial approach to evaluating governance issues that come before the AMA House of Delegates.
Through experience in organized medicine, including leadership roles within the AMA House of Delegates and service on reference committees reviewing policy and resolution proposals, Dr. Glassman has developed a strong appreciation for the importance of fair and transparent governance.
Dr. Glassman currently serves as vice-chair of the AMA PM&R Section Council and as an AMA delegate for the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R). He is the immediate past chair of the Specialty and Service Society and a past chair of the Mobility Caucus.
He has held leadership roles across organized medicine, including serving as president of the New Hampshire Medical Society and as a member of the AAPM&R Board of Governors. Through these roles, he has been actively engaged in physician advocacy, policy development and governance issues affecting physicians and patients nationwide.

Reference Committee service and House of Delegates testimony
Dr. Glassman has longstanding experience with the AMA House of Delegates process and understands how policy and governance decisions are evaluated and advanced. He has served on multiple AMA HOD Reference Committees (A, E and F), reviewing testimony, weighing stakeholder input and helping shape recommendations brought forward to the House.
In addition, Dr. Glassman has provided testimony within the AMA on major issues that require careful consensus building and clear governance pathways. He has also served on the AMA House of Delegates Election Task Force 2 and was recently selected to participate in an AMA focus group on House of Delegates representation—experience that aligns closely with the Council on Constitution & Bylaws’ responsibility to support fair, consistent and transparent governance.

In this role, he works closely with athletes, coaches and multidisciplinary medical teams to provide specialized rehabilitation and musculoskeletal care that helps athletes perform at their best while preventing injury.
His work with adaptive athletes reflects a deep commitment to rehabilitation medicine, teamwork and expanding opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
