What to look out for at the AMA National Advocacy Conference

Hundreds of physician advocates will head to Capitol Hill next week for the AMA National Advocacy Conference—Feb. 10-12 at the Grand Hyatt Washington—making their voices heard on the urgent need for Medicare physician payment reform.

 The AMA has created an action kit (PDF) for physicians to use as they meet with their members of Congress. With access to care within the Medicare program at increasing risk and physicians facing a fifth consecutive year of Medicare cuts, reversing the 2.83% cut  (PDF) that took effect at the start of the year and enacting broader Medicare physician payment reforms (PDF) are the top priorities at this year’s conference.  

This year, the AMA will also host a special event on Capitol Hill to bring even more attention to the Medicare physician payment crisis during the afternoon of Feb. 11 at the historic U.S. House Cannon Caucus Room. Scheduled speakers for the special event include:

  • Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, MD (R-IA)

  • Rep. Kim Schrier, MD (D-WA)
