NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. — The American Medical Association (AMA) honored Susan Hogeland, executive vice president of the California Academy of Family Physicians (CAFP), with the Medical Executive Lifetime Achievement Award. This award honors a medical association executive who has contributed substantially to the goals and ideals of the medical profession.

“A mentor, connector and tireless advocate for patients and physicians, alike, Susan Hogeland has led CAFP – the largest AAFP state chapter – during 27 years of growth, change and incredible challenges,” said AMA President Barbara L. McAneny, M.D. “She has never shied away from the toughest fights, leading the way against AIDS and for Hepatitis B vaccinations, disaster preparedness after the 1989 San Francisco earthquake, and needle exchanges. Her advocacy extends far and wide, to the AMA House of Delegates, Sacramento, and across the country to Washington, D.C.”
