In 2021, FREIDA™ users tallied more than 8.5 million views of medical residency programs. With this list of OB GYN residencies, we draw from the 1,589 first-year positions for obstetrics and gynecology and reveal which residency programs offer the most positions.
Rankings are based on FREIDA™ data updated as of Jan. 1–Dec. 31, 2021. FREIDA™, the AMA Residency & Fellowship Database®, allows medical students to search for a residency or fellowship from more than 12,000 programs—all accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
Specialty description
Obstetrics and gynecology is a diverse, challenging and rewarding specialty. It combines medical and surgical skills to address aspects of women’s health during the entire life cycle. An obstetrician/ gynecologist (OB/GYN) has particular expertise in pregnancy, childbirth and disorders of the reproductive system. This includes preventive care, prenatal care, detection of sexually transmitted diseases, Pap test screening, oncology, reconstructive surgery and family planning.
