In 2019 so far, FREIDA™ users have tallied more than 9,000 views of ophthalmology residency programs. In this list, we pare the list of 120 ophthalmology residencies down to the 10 programs that rose to the top for user interest.

Rankings are based on identified medical student activity on FREIDA™, the AMA Residency & Fellowship Database®, from Jan. 1, 2019 through Aug. 31, 2019. FREIDA allows medical students to search for a residency or fellowship from more than 11,000 programs—all accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

Ophthalmology is the medical specialty concerned with the medical and surgical care of the eye, orbit, optic tract and visual cortex. Training consists of a three-year residency program following a one-year clinical postgraduate year program in internal medicine, pediatrics, general surgery, or transitional year.
