The flu is back, with hospitalizations at their highest levels and case counts continuing to rise across the country. Yet with a “tripledemic” of COVID-19, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and influenza, it may be hard to know which virus you have.

An infectious diseases physician provides guidance on navigating the flu season, including these tips and more:

  • Flu incubation period is short
  • Be aware of flu symptoms
  • Length of sickness varies
  • Get tested at a walk-in clinic or urgent care to confirm it is the flu
  • There are treatments for the flu
  • Pregnancy is a big risk for the flu
  • Stay home if you have the flu
  • Avoid aspirin with the flu

If you have more questions about the flu, consult with your primary care physician.
