Preparation for extreme weather vital to risk management

| 1 Min Read

A new report from the American Meteorological Society (AMS) examines the importance of ensuring health care facilities’ resilience to high-impact weather and offers approaches for health facilities to manage their risks during extreme weather events.

The report references the Joint Commission’s standards and accreditation process, which encourage resiliency by providing a blueprint to help health care organizations prepare for extreme events. Joint Commission Engineer John Maurer participated in drafting the report.

The Joint Commission has information and tools on emergency management on its website.
