Virtual

Behavioral health integration (BHI), or the integrated delivery of both behavioral and physical health care, is essential to reaching more individuals who need behavioral health treatment and solving the nation’s growing behavioral health crisis. Appropriately applied, the incorporation of virtual care, among other digital tools, presents a unique opportunity to enhance the effectiveness and accelerate the adoption of BHI.

Learn more about the opportunities and challenges with incorporating technology to advance more coordinated and equitable behavioral health care. Hear about the practical solutions stakeholders across the health care ecosystem can pursue to advance digitally-enabled BHI. Lastly, the session features experts from Penn Medicine and the Department of Veteran Affairs who will discuss their BHI models, how digital tools have been incorporated, and the comprehensive value it has generated.

  • Edward Post, MD, PhD, clinical professor at the University of Michigan
  • Matthew Press, MD, physician executive of Penn Primary Care, medical director of the Primary Care Service Line, associate professor of medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
  • Jared Augenstein, MBA, director, Manatt Health

With an increased number of people reporting worsening mental health in recent years, it is imperative that people are aware of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (formerly known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline) telephone program.

People experiencing a suicidal, substance use, and/or mental health crisis, or any other kind of emotional distress can call, chat or text 988, and speak to trained crisis counselors. The national hotline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The previous National Suicide Prevention Lifeline  phone number (1-800-273-8255) will continue to be operational and route calls to 988 indefinitely.
