AMA Credentialing Solutions generates individual Physician Profiles from the AMA Physician Professional Data™. The AMA Physician Professional Data was established by the AMA in 1906 in response to the need for a comprehensive biographic record of all U.S. physicians. Information is obtained or verified through institutional sources that confer credentials or current practice data provided by the physician.

The AMA Physician Professional Data includes current and historical data for more than 1.5 million physicians, residents and medical students in the United States. This figure includes approximately 469,000 graduates of foreign medical schools who reside in the United States and who have met the educational and credentialing requirements necessary for recognition.

Physician profiles are available for online purchase and API delivery via AMA Profiles Connect. AMA Physician Professional Data also drives VeriCre™, pre-populated, verified physician applications through credentialing software.
